Lesson 2 Reflection:
My lesson 2 went very well. After giving students strategies to come up with rhyming words it made creating Triplets very easy for them. The Triplets I decided to read students were silly and fun. I wanted students to have fun with the writing the poems. It would be their first time writing them so I did not want to turn them off from it. The students really understood the concept of Triple (Triplet) meaning 3 and for Triplets it meant 3 rhyming lines. I would ask the students what is a Triplet and they would all yell, "Three rhyming lines". Students understood the concept of a Triplet but struggles with writing one. The reason students struggled was because they did not know what to write about. I had to help a few students draft ideas or brainstorm topics. This caused me to move up a lesson I had planned for a later date where students would brainstorm ideas for writing their final poem. Again, being able to assess the students while they were working allowed me to improve the unit for future purposes. The students that were able to come up with topics were able to compose really good Triplets and were also really into it. If I were to do the lesson again I would include a portion where I would help students come up with ideas of things they could write about. Once I helped students come up with ideas students were able to do the actual writing. My core practice of assessing was able to aid me again in helping me plan for future purposes. The lesson went really well though. The students were really into it and enjoyed it as several students wrote many Triplets. I was excited for the future of the unit because of how well Lesson 2 went.
