I really like how your unit involves a lot of writing. One way to improve students reading and writing is by doing it. One of the most important and benegficial things i oberved was the revision practicing. Students often do not go over their writing to see if it makes sense and then when they re-read it, it doesnt even make sense to them. One thing i recommend is not focusing on spelling when revising. At first grade they are going to spell a lot wrong and revising will take forever. Focus more on revising for complete thoughts or details. At this age the students know what they are trying to say and spell. It seems like your unit is more about the writing so that would be key. I think your lesson will be great! Good luck!
