Hi everyone! I'm trying to be green and save some paper, here is my handout on my final paper:

With the End in Mind

·         This was a 2 week unit plan on personal narrative writing: with an emphasis on a small moment.
·         I had worked with my field instructor, and another intern to start planning with what we wanted our students to have as a finished product.  This was helpful, because once we knew what we wanted; it was only a matter of planning how to get them to that point.
·         My class size consists of 16 of the lowest students in literacy within the school.  When then came into first grade, most of them were still struggling to write a word.
·         They have shown amazing growth since the beginning of the year, even though after grading their books with the rubric, most of them are below grade level.
·         I was amazed with the excitement they had in sharing their work, and was impressed throughout the unit how focused and on track they stayed to work toward the publishing party day.
·         I wrote this paper to share how having an “end in mind” can not only help instructors to plan, but gives students a purpose for their writing, which can make it more relatable to students.  This not only helps them stay on task, but want to produce a strong final product.
·         I also wanted to share this in my narrative to demonstrate how positive the students were about the other authors’ writing.  They found different specialties and qualities that not only made that author feel special, but also depicted what makes a good writer.
